Born on July 3, 1970 in the village Nemchinovka, Odintsovo district, Moscow region. In 1994 he graduated from S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, specialty “General Medicine”, qualification “medical doctor”.

From 1994-1995 Ivanov Sergey provided medical care to the wounded in the military conflict in Chechnya, and was the head of the reception and evacuation department of a mobile military hospital in the military conflict zone. He was awarded the state military award The Medal of Suvorov (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated July 6, 1995 No. 674), and has a “Combat Veteran” certificate.

In 1999, he worked as a medical consultant within the framework of the United Nations Development Program in the Russian Federation.

He is a member of the reserve of management personnel under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation.

By the Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated July 30, 2020 No. 777 Ivanov Sergey was assigned the duties of the chief oncologist in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation.

Married, three children.

In 1994 Sergey Ivanov graduated from S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, specialty “General Medicine”, qualification “medical doctor”.

In the same year, he entered an internship in surgery at N. Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital.

In 1997, he completed postgraduate training in urology at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, and in 1998, a course of seminars in urology at the European School of Urology.

In 1999, he worked as a medical consultant within the framework of the United Nations Development Program in the Russian Federation.

Also since 1999 – Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD), defended his dissertation in “Urology” on the topic: “Assessing the severity of damage in closed kidney injuries.”

In 2000, he completed a course in oncourology at the Russian Scientific Oncology Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, joined the Moscow Society of Urologists, as well as the European Association of Urologists.

In 2006, he was awarded the qualification of a urologist of the highest qualification category.

In 2007, he completed a course in laparoscopic urology, the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

In 2009, Ivanov S.A. completed training in operative urology at the Mansour Clinic in Egypt and the course “Current Issues in Urology” at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

In 2010, he completed a course in ultrasound diagnostics in urology at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and a course in Oncology at N.I. Pirogov Russian State Medical University in Moscow.

In 2011, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences in “Oncology” on the topic: “Brachytherapy – as a method of radical treatment for prostate cancer.”

In 2012, he completed training as part of the implementation of the State Plan for the Training of Managerial Personnel for Organizations of the National Economy of the Russian Federation, and also completed an internship at Lake West Hospital in Cleveland in the USA.

In 2014, he completed professional training at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education in “Healthcare Organization and Public Health.”

In 2015, Ivanov S.A. underwent professional training at A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Center with a degree in Radiology.

In 2016 – advanced training at N.I. Pirogov Russian State Medical University specializing in Urology.

In 2017, he underwent professional training at the National Medical Research Radiological Center in the following specialties: “Radiotherapy”, “Radiology” and “Ultrasound Diagnostics” at RUDN University, Moscow.

In 2019, he completed training in the specialty “Ultrasound Diagnostics” at RUDN University, Moscow and in 2020 in the specialty “Oncology” at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

In  2021 – a course in “Urology” at the National Medical Research Radiological Center of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Moscow, and in 2022 a course in “Radiotherapy” at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Moscow.

Since 2022, he has the academic title of professor in the specialty “Urology and andrology”.

Ivanov S.A. is one of Russia’s leading specialists in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment. He solves problems of radiation and combination therapy for malignant tumors, introduces methods of interstitial radiation therapy for prostate cancer, takes part in the development of state standards for medical care to cancer patients.

He developed and improved a number of methods of surgical and radiation treatment for various urological diseases and types of cancer, which made it possible to increase the effectiveness of treatment, reduce the time spent in hospital and the financial costs required for treating patients.

In 2018, he was awarded the title of professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In 2022, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the specialty “Oncoradiology” of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Ivanov S.A. is the chairman of the Dissertation Council 21.1.036.02 created on the basis of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre (NMRRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations in the specialties: radiation diagnostics (medical sciences) and radiobiology (biological sciences), a member of the editorial board of the journals “Radiation and Risk”, ” Issues of urology and andrology”, “Research and practice in medicine”.

He is the President of the Russian Association of Therapeutic Radiation Oncologists, a member of the Moscow Society of Urologists, the Russian Society of Urological Oncologists, the European Association of Urological Oncologists and the Russian-American Medical Association.

Ivanov S.A. takes an active part not only in scientific and clinical work, but also conducts active pedagogical work on training scientific personnel. For more than five years, he has headed the specialized department of radionuclide medicine at the Institute of Nuclear Energy of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, and is a professor at Academician V.P. Kharchenko Department of Oncology and Interventional Radiology of the Institute of Medicine, RUDN University, professor of the Department of Urology at Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Sergey Ivanov regularly participates in many seminars and lectures throughout the country and abroad. In total, he trained more than 110 medical doctors. Under the leadership of Ivanov S.A. 9 dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD), as well as 1 doctoral dissertation were prepared and successfully defended. Personally and in co-authorship, he has published about 500 published works, including 7 monographs, 14 methodological and clinical recommendations and 6 teaching aids, 14 patents, 43 databases, 12 computer programs.

  • 2022 the laureate of the Russian Government Prize in the field of science and technology “For the development and introduction into clinical practice of domestic microspheres with yttrium-90 radionuclide for the treatment of liver tumors”
