Since 2017, Petr V. Shegai has been heading the Center for Innovative Radiological and Regenerative Technologies of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, which includes all experimental sites of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
He is a highly qualified surgeon in the field of laparoscopic oncology and urology, using in his practice the latest surgical methods. When treating kidney cancer, performing reconstructive and plastic surgeries for bladder cancer, surgical interventions for prostate, testicular and penile cancer, he prefers organ-preserving laparoscopic interventions.
Petr V. Shegai graduated from the full-time department of the Faculty of Medicine at I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy in 2003, specializing in “General Medicine”.
From 2004 to 2007, he was a full-time postgraduate at the Department of Oncourology at P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute (MORI) – the branch of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre (NMRRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
From 2008 to 2014, he worked as a teaching assistant of the Faculty of Oncology of I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy at P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute.
From 2014 to 2017, he worked as a researcher in the department of tumors of urinary and reproductive organs of P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute.
In 2019, Petr V. Shegai defended his master’s thesis on the topic: “Management of efficiency and quality of medical care in modern Russia” at the “Institute of Public Service and Management” at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
He regularly takes part in professional international congresses in Russia and abroad. As a member of the delegation of the Russian Federation he organizes and conducts international meetings and negotiations on scientific cooperation of the Russian Federation with organizations of Japan, the Republic of Korea, the PRC, the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy.
In July 2023, he took an active part in organizing the BRICS international forum to promote Russian developments in the field of nuclear medicine.
Petr V. Shegai has published 153 works in the leading journals, including those recommended by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, among which there was:
an atlas of operations,
chapters in 3 monographs,
45 articles, including 5 articles Q1, 2 articles Q3,
98 patents for invention, databases and computer programs.
In 2020, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Russian Federation for his great contribution to the organizational work to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
