Doctor-transfusiologist
A transfusiologist is responsible for the collection and analysis of blood for transfusion to patients in the branches of FSBI “National Medical Researc Oncological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation. There are transfusiologists in all branches of the center. They perform a full range of extracorporeal detoxification, hemocorrection and immunocorrection procedures, including low-flow hemodiafiltration, therapeutic plasma exchange, cascade plasma filtration, hemosorption, immunosorption, intravenous laser therapy in the complex treatment of patients with urological, nephrological, oncological and other diseases.
Services of a transfusiologist
The Department of Transfusiology provides recruitment and registration of donor personnel, including donors – relatives of patients, medical personnel of the institution, and their examination in accordance with the approved instructions, organization of transfusiological care in various departments of the clinic, control over the proper storage and use of transfusion media, consultative assistance to the departments of the clinic on the clinical application of transfusions of blood, its components and blood substitutes, individual (if necessary) serologic examination of blood, blood components and blood substitutes.
For therapeutic purposes, the doctor-transfusiologist uses the method of extracorporeal detoxification – therapeutic plasmapheresis, as well as engaged in the preparation of erythrocyte suspension and quarantined plasma.
The main task of transfusiologists at the “National Medical Researc Oncological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation is transfusion support, including scheduled and emergency surgeries. Thanks to the prompt and competent work of specialists of the transfusiology department, they ensure an uninterrupted cycle of transfusion support for surgical operations.
