Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory
The Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory of the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute is a powerful, multifunctional structure that performs various types of clinical laboratory diagnostics using modern laboratory equipment and technologies.

- Certified methods
- Analytical reliability
- Сompulsory health insurance policy, paid medical services
- Patients from any region of Russia, near and far abroad
Laboratory tests are an integral part of the entire treatment process
Diagnostics
Hematological analyses are performed on a modern automatic DxH 800 analyzer (Beckman Coulter USA). This analyzer uses a unique technology for determining cell morphology by digitally processing data obtained by flow cytometry. General clinical studies are carried out on Sysmex UF 500i and Aution Max AX 4030 analyzers. Great importance is attached to the study of bone marrow and spinal fluid. Comprehensive biochemical analysis is performed on fully automated AU 680 clinical chemistry analyzers (Beckman Coulter USA) with an ion-selective module and BioSystems A-25, with software, a high degree of automation of the process and a wide range of tests performed.
The study of the hemostasis system is widely used — a specific type of laboratory analysis that makes it possible to assess the state of the platelet-vascular and plasma components of the blood coagulation system, fibrinolysis, and the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy. Coagulological tests are performed using Sysmex CS 2100i, CA 1500 coagulometers and Chrono-Log platelet aggregation analyzer (Chrono-Log Corporation). Along with this, the thrombodynamics test is used, a new method for diagnosing disorders of the hemostasis system, which makes it possible to assess the risks of thrombotic and hemorrhagic complications at an early stage.
Recommendations for patients
In the treatment room, from 8:30 till 15:00, blood is taken from outpatient patients for the following types of laboratory tests:
- Hematological;
- Biochemical;
- Hormonal;
- Indicators of the hemostasis system;
- Serological;
- Cancer markers.
When conducting a paid analysis, a referral from a doctor is not necessary. The result of the analysis is issued on the day of treatment if you donated blood before 11 o’clock, if later, the result of the analysis is issued on another day.
About laboratory activities
Clinical diagnostic laboratory was organized on the initiative of P.A. Hertsen in 1929. Since then, and especially in recent years, there has been a rapid development of methods and technologies for clinical laboratory diagnostics. The quality of laboratory analysis is constantly being improved through systematic intra-laboratory monitoring and annual participation in the program of the Federal External Evaluation System for the quality of clinical laboratory studies. The working process is strictly standardized, constantly optimized. New research methods are actively introduced. The laboratory information system, using modern computer technologies, has been installed in all units of the laboratory, allowing to improve many aspects of the production of laboratory analyses. All stages of laboratory research, both analytical and pre- and post-clinical, pass under the supervision of doctors of clinical laboratory diagnostics, most of which have a higher qualification category, scientific degrees, titles and long tenure at the institute. Doctors of the laboratory provide advice to clinicians in choosing the most informative laboratory tests, treatment of data of laboratory examination of patients, periodically conduct cycles of classes with students of Medical College 1.
The diagnostic laboratory participates in scientific research jointly with other departments of the institute, although it is not a scientific unit by status. The main activity of the laboratory is aimed at creating together with the clinician’s patient examination algorithms, monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and choosing the optimal tactics of the diagnostic process.
