Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kaprin lectures at MEPhI
Last week, the General Director of the NMIC of Radiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Dmitrievich Kaprin held a meeting with the teaching staff of the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” (NRU MEPhI), and also told the university students about the prospects for the development of nuclear medicine in Russia and the world.
Today, the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the NRU MEPhI are connected by joint scientific and practical projects. Thus, both institutions participate in the consortium on engineering-physical, nuclear and nano technologies for medicine, combining efforts in the development and implementation of the latest methods of diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases.
And since 2020, the NMIC of Radiology has been a clinical base for MEPhI students and postgraduates. During this time, more than 230 people have been trained at the NMIC of Radiology.
Volumes and prospects of the world and Russian market of diagnostic and therapeutic RFP; domestic developments of radiopharmaceuticals for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, metastatic lesions of the liver and bones; brachytherapy in such localizations as the pancreas and mammary gland; technical novelties – a compact rhenium generator – listeners learned about this and much more from the speech of the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
“The availability of qualified personnel in a medical institution is one of the keys to successful treatment of oncological diseases, we understand this, of course. It is not enough to come up with any technology, our task, as a National Center, is to put it into practice not only in the capital, but also in the supervised regions, relying on highly qualified specialists on the ground. That is why our cooperation with universities throughout the country is extremely important, and it is strategically important with the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, because the NMIC of Radiology today is the developer and conductor of the latest methods of nuclear medicine in the treatment of cancer,” said Andrey Dmitrievich.
