Immortal Regiment of NMIC Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia
More than 500 works about their relatives – participants of the Great Patriotic War were sent by the current employees of our Center on Victory Day and this immortal regiment continues to be replenished. We will definitely post photos of everyone who is remembered and honored in our families.
Among the veterans are three Heroes of the Soviet Union, all three are combat pilots: D.V. Kaprin, S.F. Dolgushin, N.T. Kanukoev. But there is also a girl pilot in our regiment – Senior Lieutenant Maria Starinskaya, who smashed the enemy on the legendary planes of the PO–2 women’s squadrons. Conceived as a training aircraft, it could fly at treetop level and at very low speeds, and this made it inaccessible to German aviation. The PO-2 became widely used as a night bomber, reconnaissance and communications aircraft. Fearless pilots were not called “night witches” by enemies for nothing. Maria Maksimovna received 16 orders and medals for her war.
There are a lot of scouts, gunners, tankmen, signalmen, medical workers, representatives of the labor front and, of course, infantry in this invisible formation, who paved the way from Moscow to Berlin with their soldier boots. Eternal memory to them! We will be worthy of their feat of arms!
