BEST PRACTICES AND COMPREHENSIVE EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE BETWEEN NATIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH RADIOLOGICAL CENTRE AND LUGANSK ONCOLOGY DISPENSARY

National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation continues to provide comprehensive support to colleagues from new regions. Last week, a master class was held at the Lugansk Oncology Dispensary under the guidance of the head of the thoracoabdominal department of the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute – branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the “National Medical Research Radiological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Ph.D. Ilya Kolobaev. The master class took place on the initiative of the chief physician of the oncology dispensary, Olga Ryabtseva, and the head of the second thoracic department of the Lugansk oncology dispensary, Mohammed Ahmed Abbas.

In just a few days of joint work, the colleagues managed to perform two gastrectomies – removal of the stomach with various reconstruction options, a two-stage laparoscopic resection and plastic on the esophagus, a thoracoscopic upper lobectomy for lung cancer, and a complex operation for advanced cancer of the splenic angle of the colon. In addition, for the first time in the LPR, Ilya Vladimirovich performed PIPAC therapy, intra-abdominal aerosol chemotherapy under pressure, which has been successfully used for several years at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

“Educational surgical master classes for colleagues from the regions, which are held both within the walls of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre and on the territory of specialized medical institutions, are a frequent practice for our centre. Every week, our leading specialists travel to different regions of the country or host guests to exchange their best practices and share their experiences. This is a very important format of interaction, it helps to improve the professional level of specialists and improve the quality of medical care,” emphasized Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation

“Of course, our colleagues have a strong surgical school, but we always have room to grow. In the process of joint projects and master classes, we not only exchange comprehensive experience, discuss difficult clinical situations, but also talk about even the smallest details and techniques. Our main message is, first of all, high-quality and safe surgery,” Kolobaev noted.

In addition to surgical practices, experts also discussed modern protocols and standards for the speedy rehabilitation and recovery of patients after surgery. We are talking about such a modern multimodal concept of perioperative patient management as Fast-track in surgery (or ERAS), which is successfully used at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Practical interaction does not end there. It is planned that already in early March the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation will receive guests from the Lugansk Oncology Dispensary in its operating rooms.
