CHIEF ONCOLOGIST OF THE RUSSIAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH ANDREY KAPRIN WAS ON A WORKING VISIT TO THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

The reason for the visit was the annual final medical council of the Professor M.Z. Segal Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan. On February 22, the results of the work of the oncology service of the Republic for 2023 were summed up with the participation of the Minister of Health of the Republic Marcel Minnullin, the General Director of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Andrey Kaprin, and the rector of the Kazan State Medical Academy Rustem Khasanov. The chief physician of the oncology clinic, Ilgiz Khidiyatov, and the chief oncologist of the Republic, Eduard Nagumanov, presented their reports.

In addition to the official part, Andrey Kaprin got acquainted with the work of the new and re-equipped departments of the dispensary, the latest equipment for which was purchased as part of the implementation of the National Healthcare Project. This is a modern angiograph, computed tomograph, equipment for close-focus therapy, SPECT-CT. The chief oncologist also visited the nuclear medicine department, where today diagnostics and treatment of malignant neoplasms have become available using radiopharmaceuticals based on 18 – fluorine, 89 – strontium, 131 – iodine, etc. Andrey Dmitrievich also visited the operating room of the urological oncology department, the department of oncology and interventional radiology.

“The most modern equipment and equipped operating rooms are appearing in Tatarstan, which, of course, allows the use of more and more new opportunities in oncology,” noted academician Kaprin – today the oncology service of Tatarstan has its own developments in the field of epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment of malignant neoplasms, rehabilitation and palliative care cancer patients. This is the enormous work of outstanding doctors who are ready to share their experience and teach the younger generation. Along with the increase in the number of registered cancer patients in the Republic, which indicates the quality of diagnosis, there is also a decrease in the mortality rate compared to 2019,” emphasized Andrey Dmitrievich.
