Twentieth anniversary of the World Cancer Day in Russia
On February 4, 2020, it will be exactly twenty years since the international cancer community turned to the whole world with a proposal to join the fight against cancer! The Russian Federation was no exception, moreover, in 2018, in his annual address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Head of State Vladimir Putin proposed to make the fight against cancer a national project.
The Ministry of Health of Russia together with the expert community in the same year 2018 created the National Project “Healthcare”, in which the federal project “Fight against oncological diseases” has an absolute priority and is designed until 2024. Among the tasks of the project is the formation of cancer awareness among primary care doctors and, very importantly, among citizens. That is why the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia has assumed the responsibility to educate both doctors and patients.
In 2019, with the support of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health of Russia, the Association of Oncologists of Russia, an unprecedented all-Russian educational project “Oncopatrul” was launched, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and the formation of cancer awareness among citizens of the Russian Federation. The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that oncologists of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, together with regional oncological dispensaries, conduct screening for early detection of oncological diseases at the largest city–forming enterprises in the subjects of the Russian Federation. Employees of enterprises “before” or “after” the work shift have the opportunity to check their health. Over the past 2019, 7 subjects of the Russian Federation took part in the project: Moscow, Yaroslavl, Moscow, Voronezh, Kursk, Samara regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan. 1878 people were examined and 16 oncological cases were detected, 124 people had pathologies of various localizations.
On the eve of the World Cancer Day, the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia is holding major actions: in Kaluga on January 30 and 31, 2020, 232 employees of the Volkswagen Group Rus plant will participate in the action. The company employs almost 5,000 people in three shifts.
Within two days, specialists of the A.F. Tsyba MRSC – a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Kaluga Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary – will conduct examinations by a gynecologist, mammologist-dermatologist, urologist, thoracic and abdominal surgeon, as well as conduct research: HPV analysis (for women), blood analysis for PSA (for men), analysis of the contents of the intestine for latent blood, mammography, ultrasound of the thyroid gland, abdominal organs and pelvis. In case of detection of suspicions of malignant formation and for the purpose of further examination, employees will be sent to the Kaluga Regional Clinical Oncological dispensary.
On February 1, 2020
, an Open Day will be held in the polyclinic of the P.A. Herzen Moscow Medical Institute – a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation as part of the All-Russian action “Oncopatrul” for employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation. Preventive examinations are provided by a gynecologist, mammologist-dermatologist, urologist, thoracic and abdominal surgeon.
Also, by the efforts of regional oncological dispensaries, where the “Oncopatrul” took place in 2019, an All-Russian flash mob will be held to attract attention to the early detection of malignant diseases.
On February 4, 2020, the Kaluga Innovative Cultural Center will host a solemn information and educational event, which will be attended by employees of the Volkswagen Group Rus plant, residents of Kaluga, as well as the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Director General of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia A.D. Kaprin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy I.N.. Kagramanyan, Governor of Kaluga Region A.D. Artamonov, Minister of Health of Kaluga Region K.N. Baranov, Chairman of the All-Russian Association of Cancer Patients “Hello” I.V. Borovova and oncologists of NMIC Radiology.
