“The Forum, like your country, is only moving forward”

A special guest from Austria, Professor Rainer Rienmuller, took part in the Second International Forum of Oncology and Radiology.
He headed several sections at once within the framework of the III All-Russian Congress of RATRO.
The well-known scientist highly appreciated the program of the forum and its participants, noting that the topic of the forum meets all modern challenges in oncology.

– We organized a section where the issues of theranostics were first raised. This is a new medical approach, which consists in a comprehensive solution of therapeutic and diagnostic problems by creating drugs that are both a therapeutic agent and a means of early diagnosis.

The second part of the section was devoted to biobanking, which plays an extremely important role in oncology.  Histological material of different types of cancer, different stages of treatment, and results are stored there. The creation of such a biobank opens up new opportunities for the search for new therapeutic and diagnostic methods, the identification of biomarkers that determine the effectiveness and safety of certain treatment methods. This is especially relevant with the development of personalized medicine.

I would like to remind you that the first biobank in the world was created at the Medical University of Graz in Austria. Professor Kaprin came to our university and was extremely interested in the development of biobanking in Russia. We have decided to develop our cooperation between the P.A. Herzen Institute and the Medical University in Graz.

I had the honor to be the guest of honor of this event for the second time. And I can note that the forum, like your country, is only moving forward.
