A highlight of the first day of the Forum was the «Live Surgery» session
Live broadcasts from operating rooms allowed Forum participants to observe complex interventions in real time, listen to surgeons’ comments, and discuss key stages of the procedures.
The program included oncological urology, oncological gynecology, oncomammology, and surgery for head and neck tumors.
One of the operations — pelvic evisceration — was performed by Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Valery Korotkov, Head of the Department of Post‑Radiation Injuries, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
Other procedures broadcast live included robotic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion under the guidance of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Pushkar; robotic hysterectomy with adnexa and sentinel lymph node identification; subcutaneous mastectomy with reconstruction and sentinel lymph node biopsy; and removal of an oral cavity tumor with a reconstructive stage.
The «Live Surgery» geography extended far beyond a single clinic: operating rooms of the Bashkir State Medical University, the A. V. Vishnevsky National Medical Research Centre of Surgery, and the N. N. Petrov National Medical Research Centre of Oncology joined the broadcasts.
Thus, within a single day, participants were able to see different surgical schools, approaches, and technologies in action.
The first day is over. But the main in‑person program «For Life» is just beginning — we’ll meet tomorrow at the World Trade Center.
