Chief Oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia takes part in the Eastern Economic Forum 2019

The Eastern Economic Forum 2019, which is being held for the fifth time this year, brought together public figures, representatives of business, politics, government, various sectors of the economy, agriculture, healthcare, and the media from more than 60 countries around the world.
The Chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Director General of the FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.D. Kaprin is taking part in the WEF 2019 for the second time. This year at NMIC Radiology  extensive program. On the first day of the Forum, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, a panel session “Step into the future of healthcare in the Far East” was held, at which A.D. Kaprin also spoke. It was also attended by the head of the polyclinic department of Life Center Chaum Chong Seok Kim, Governor of the Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Medical Tourism Japan Co Katsuya Sakagami, Chairman of the Committee for Investments in Social Infrastructure of the ANO “Agency for Investments in the Social Sphere” Danil Baryshnikov, Managing Partner of LLC “Academic MIAC” Sergey Gneushev, Kirill Kayem, Senior Vice President for Innovation of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Nikolay Sivak, Commercial Director of Philips Healthcare in Russia and the CIS.

The main topics discussed during the session were improving the quality of medical care, especially in remote regions of our country, digitalization of the healthcare system, including in the Far East, new technologies in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The priority topic of the session was the discussion of the fight against cancer. In his speech, the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia A.D. Kaprin noted that the work of the oncological service in the Far East is carried out at a high level.  – Despite the geographical remoteness of all 11 subjects of the Far East, it was possible to achieve good results in the work of the oncological service here.

A separate topic of discussion was the development of nuclear medicine, which, according to the Minister of Health, gave a serious leap to improve the interest of international partners in Russian healthcare.
In turn, A.D. Kaprin stressed that Russia has something to offer to foreign colleagues.  – We were the first in the Fatherland to perform radioembolization surgery for liver tumors using Russian microspheres, we are conducting clinical trials of the brachytherapy method on the pancreas. No one does such operations in the world. We have the first domestic proton accelerator, which, together with developers from Protvino, was installed at the A.F. Tsyba MRSC, a branch of the FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The main advantage of domestic development, in addition to import substitution, is that there is an opportunity to refine it ourselves, to improve the car. –

During the session, Veronika Skvortsova also announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia and representatives of Japan on the establishment of the first Russian ion therapy center in Obninsk. This landmark event will take place tomorrow, September 5, 2019 at the site of the Healthy Society business space.

The opening of the Healthy Society business space was a notable event in the work of the WEF 2019. It became a point of attraction for leading Russian and international representatives of the medical and scientific communities. Visitors will be able to undergo DNA testing here, take part in a demonstration of primary care, combining offline and online instrument examinations with the participation of narrow specialists and remote clinics, determine an integral indicator of health and receive individual recommendations for its preservation and improvement, do cardiovascular screening, revealing the risks of heart attacks, strokes and much more other.
