The information and educational campaign “Oncopatrul” was held within the framework of the Second International Forum of Oncology and Radiology

Among the participants of the action were residents of the Moscow region, employees of the Rubin Aviation Corporation, where cancer screening took place in June this year, students of medical educational institutions of the Moscow region, volunteers, children’s creative teams, as well as Forum participants, officials representing the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, the Federation Council and other medical state institutions.

According to the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kaprina, the organizers of the forum specifically included the action “Oncopatrul” the program of the main events.

– We set ourselves the task, on the one hand, to show the forum participants, among whom there are a lot of primary care doctors, health care organizers, how our Center works with the population, on the other hand, to interest the patients themselves with information about screening programs, unique cancer treatment methods in NMIC radiology. In addition, our task was to acquaint them with their rights and even duties, how it is necessary and how important it is to take care of their health in a timely manner,” Kaprin said.

The organizers of the action focused on the data of the cancer registry for the Moscow region on the detection and mortality from cancer in this region. So, in 2017, more than 27 thousand new cases of cancer were detected. Prostate cancer is the leader in detection in men (2004 new cases), breast cancer in women (3696 cases).

However, the data on mortality of the population are of concern Moscow region. Lung cancer is in the first place among men. The host of the event Olga Stroynova noted that lung cancer mortality is in the first place in almost all regions of the Russian Federation. According to experts, one of the main causes of this terrible disease is smoking.  Doctors called for a resolute fight against this addiction, especially since smoking is a “trigger” for many other types of cancer.

Thoracic oncosurgeon, Candidate of Medical Sciences of the P.A. Herzen Institute of Medical Research – branch of the FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia Vitaly Barmin in his speech noted that only doctors can not cope with the treatment of oncological diseases. – A great responsibility for their health lies on the citizens themselves and on their desire to contact doctors in a timely manner for examination, – the doctor stressed.

Igor, co-initiator of the All-Russian Okopatrul Project, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, spoke about the importance of direct dialogue between doctors and patients in his speech. Kagramanyan. In turn, the Minister of Health of the Moscow Region Tatyana Mukhtasarova expressed her gratitude to the oncologists who examined more than 300 employees of the Rubin Aviation Corporation within three days and assured that the new practice of interaction of the medical oncological community with the population in The Moscow region will be continued. – The format of the action allows not only to inspect, but also to educate the population, and we welcome and support this, – the minister said. She passed the baton of the “Oncopatrul” campaign to the Voronezh Region, which was accepted by the chief oncologist of the Voronezh Region Health Department Ivan Moshurov.

The performances of children’s creative groups and famous cinema figures became a great decoration of the Oncopatrul campaign. So, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Andrey Chubchenko told about how his family fought against cancer for the life of his mother.

– Unfortunately, my mother did not go to the doctors for examinations, she turned only when she became ill and the cancer was detected already at stage 4. –

The artist expressed gratitude to oncologists for their work in the treatment of cancer and called on men and women to support the Oncopatrul project timely age-related examinations.
