NATIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH RADIOLOGICAL CENTRE OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF RUSSIAN FEDERATION HELPS SCHOOL STUDENTS CHOOSE A PROFESSION
The team of the Council of Young Scientists at the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre, – branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the “National Medical Research Radiological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation — took part in the 16th Pre-University Forum “Be With Us!” for students in grades 9–11 and vocational school students. This educational and creative project is designed to help the younger generation decide on their future careers.
Liana Vatina, an oncologist at the Department of Head and Neck Diseases of the A. Tsyb MRRC and a member of the Council of Young Scientists, spoke about the medical profession and the Centre’s latest and most notable achievements. During a 3D tour, participants were shown the country’s first nuclear pharmacy, a GMP laboratory, state-of-the-art operating rooms, and exclusive treatment methods. Special attention was given to the experimental department, where real scientists — biologists, chemists, and physicists — are hard at work. They are the ones developing the medications and technologies that are later implemented at the Centre to help patients.
The students also learned about the veterinary clinic, where fluffy patients receive treatment for cancer — yes, pets can also get cancer. The event ended on a positive note, with the A. Tsyb MRRC specialists conducting an interactive career orientation quiz to help students figure out if they could see themselves working as doctors.
“We hope this event helped many students find their dream profession. The team at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre sincerely wishes the younger generation to enjoy their future work and make a real difference in people’s lives,” emphasized Sergey Ivanov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the A. Tsyb MRRC.
