NEUROGRAPHICS: NMRRC INTEGRATES NEW RECOVERY PROGRAMS FOR PATIENTS
Rehabilitation specialists at the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre, – branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the «National Medical Research Radiological Centre» of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation have introduced a new therapeutic practice: a neurographics class. The first session took place in a comfortable outdoor setting, where patients spent an hour and a half drawing under the guidance of a trained specialist using a specific technique.
Neurographics is more than just drawing — it combines elements of art therapy and neuropsychology. «Research shows that this kind of visual activity activates areas of the brain responsible for feelings of satisfaction and emotional comfort», explains Liana Mkrtchyan, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Restorative Technologies at the A. Tsyb MRRC.
Emotional well-being is an integral part of the overall recovery process, especially for patients who must stay in the hospital not for days, but for weeks or even months. Acknowledging this, the specialists at the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Restorative Technologies at the A. Tsyb MRRC aim to create not only a healing environment, but also a space for psychological support.
Another form of support includes dance classes open to all patients undergoing treatment at the Centre. These classes are held three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and regularly bring together those who are ready to move, regardless of their diagnosis.
«For our patients, it’s important not only to engage in new activities but also to connect with new people. During the sessions, they gain a boost of energy and support from like-minded individuals. The interactions in class often grow into friendships that last both during and after treatment», concluded Liana Sirekanovna.
The master class was held with the support of the A. Tsyb MRRC’s Trade Union.
