NMIC of Radiology will become a reference platform for the development of cooperation in the field of oncology and radiology of the CIS countries
On November 8-9, the XXX anniversary meeting of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Healthcare of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan), chaired by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tadikistan, Olimzada Nasim Khoja.
He noted that in 2019, which was held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan, more than 40 major events were held aimed at developing cooperation between the member countries of the Council, including the completion of work on a Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy “Public Health of the CIS member States”, the creation of programs to counter antimicrobial resistance, on the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus for 2021-2025, conducting interstate command-staff and tactical-special exercises on disaster medicine and others.
The most important tool for developing an integrated approach of the CIS countries to solving global problems is the emergence of a system of basic healthcare organizations in the field of prevention and treatment of diseases that pose a global threat to human health.
At the XXX meeting of the Council for Cooperation of the CIS Countries in the Field of healthcare, in particular, the proposal of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to give the FSBI “NMIC Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation the status of the CIS basic organization for oncology was unanimously approved. Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the National Medical Research Center for Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, is the president of the Association of Directors of Centers and Institutes of Oncology and Radiology (ADIOR) of the CIS and Eurasia countries, which actively promotes the achievements of modern oncology for the development of colleagues in the CIS countries.
In his address to the participants of the meeting, Academician Kaprin stressed that “it is a great honor for us to become a reference organization for developing common positions on oncology and radiology in the CIS countries.”
The report on the development of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of oncology on the example of the activities of the Association of Directors of Centers and Institutes of Oncology and Radiology of the CIS and Eurasia countries was made at the meeting by the Executive Director of ADIOR, Professor Elena Filonenko.
In her speech, she stressed that the incidence of malignant neoplasms in many countries has come to the fore and the fight against it is a common task. The dissemination of new knowledge, the development of common approaches, cooperation in the field of personnel training and the dissemination of best practices is a prerequisite for its successful solution.
The report “On the impact of oncological diseases on reproductive health and active social longevity in the long–term demographic perspective of the Russian Federation” was presented by the Director of the N.A. Lopatkin Research Institute of Urology and Interventional Radiology, a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Professor Oleg Apolikhin.
The meeting participants also discussed organizational issues: the election of the chairman and co-chairs of the CIS Health Cooperation Council for the next year, the definition of basic organizations in the field of health informatization of the CIS member states, monitoring of sanitary-epidemiological emergencies, oncology, etc., decided on the agenda for the next meeting. At the suggestion of the delegation of Uzbekistan, the next meeting of the Council participants will be held in Tashkent.
The Council was attended by representatives of the World Health Organization and the United Nations.
The health status of refugees and migrants in the WHO European Region was reported by Santino Severoni, Acting Director of the WHO Division of Health Systems and Public Health Protection. The Regional Director of UNAIDS (Joint United Nations Programme on HIV) spoke about what has been done and needs to be done to meet the UN 2020 goals on AIDS./AIDS) in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Vinay Saldana.
During the visit to Dushanbe, the ADIOR delegation visited the Republican Cancer Center, got acquainted with the state of the oncological service of the Republic of Tajikistan.
