NMRRC CELEBRATES MEDICAL WORKER’S DAY BY TAKING PART IN TWO MAJOR SPORT EVENTS IN MOSCOW
On June 15, in honor of Medical Worker’s Day, teams from the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Russian Ministry of Health, supported by the Centre’s Trade Union, participated in two major sporting events in the capital — the 7th Charity MedRun and the Medical Sailing Regatta (Medregatta).
The running event, held in memory of Elizaveta Petrovna Glinka, took place in Moscow’s Meshchersky Park and brought together over 650 participants — doctors, managers, students, representatives of NGOs, athletes, and everyone who consciously chooses a healthy lifestyle and community involvement. This year, four representatives from the NMRRC took to the course. One result stood out: Ravilya Yunisova ranked among the top ten women, showing an outstanding time and true competitive spirit.
Simultaneously, the 3rd Medical Regatta organized by the “With Gratitude” Charity Foundation was held on the waters of the yacht club. The NMRRC fielded two teams — a total of 10 people. This was not the Centre’s first time participating: the Medregatta has become an annual tradition that brings professionals together outside of work. The first stage of the competition took place on Medical Worker’s Day. The top-performing teams will go on to compete in the final race in September.
“We strive to take part in these initiatives consciously and systematically. Sport is, above all, a way to maintain one’s inner resources. Doctors work under immense responsibility, especially in oncology, and in the long run, it’s impossible to sustain that without physical and psychological reserves. These events have become part of our institution’s internal culture. We’re seeing a steady positive trend: each year, more employees are getting involved,” noted Andrey Kaprin, General Director of the NMRRC and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
