NOVEMBER — LUNG CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE CAPABILITIES OF MODERN GENETIC DIAGNOSTICS
In addition to standard PCR tests, it is possible here, under the OMS policy and with a referral in the 057/u-04 format, to conduct an extended genetic study using two large gene panels:
1. DNA panel (637 genes) — searching for mutations in key genes such as EGFR, KRAS, BRAF, MET, HER2, as well as many others.
2. RNA panel (105 genes) — searching for gene fusions, including ALK, ROS1, RET, NTRK, and others.
How can a patient undergo the examination?
2. Make an appointment for a consultation with an oncologist at theP.Hertsen MORI and get a doctor’s recommendation for conducting a molecular genetic test for the lung cancer panel.
3. Contact the institute’s pathology department to arrange the paperwork for transferring tumor material to the genetic laboratory.
4. Await the result. The turnaround time for the test is 30 days.
