Oncopatrul

The All-Russian educational project “Oncopatrul” is aimed at the prevention of oncological diseases, the formation of a healthy lifestyle and cancer awareness among citizens of the Russian Federation
The All-Russian project “Oncopatrul” was launched on the eve of the World Cancer Day on February 2, 2019 at the Russian University of Transport. The project was initiated by the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Andrey Kaprin and the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Senator for the Yaroslavl region Igor Kagarmanyan. “Oncopatrul” is aimed at preserving the health of the Russian population and reducing mortality from cancer by early detection of oncological diseases, formation of a healthy lifestyle and cancer alertness among citizens of the Russian Federation. The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that oncologists of the FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” together with regional oncological dispensaries conduct screening of men’s and women’s health at enterprises in the subjects of the Russian Federation.

The project takes place in two stages. At the first stage, oncogynecologists, oncourologists, oncodermatologists, mammologists, radiologists conduct an examination for early diagnosis of oncological diseases in women according to the program: breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, skin cancer. All participants are given an onco-test for hidden blood to detect bowel cancer, and an ultrasound of the thyroid gland is also performed. In men, according to the program: blood sampling for PSA test to detect prostate cancer, examination and palpation by an oncourologist, colorectal cancer test, ultrasound of the thyroid gland and abdominal cavity.

Thus, employees of enterprises have the opportunity to check their health directly at work. The choice of enterprises is determined by the presence of medical or paramedic stations that have a license for medical activity.

At the second stage, in the format of a direct dialogue between specialist doctors and patients, employees of enterprises and residents of cities, a solemn action “Oncopatrul” is held during which lectures of doctors alternate with interesting author’s numbers of creative teams supporting the idea of the formation of cancer awareness among the population.

The project is supported by the Council for Regional Healthcare of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Departments of healthcare of the subjects of the Russian Federation and the All-Russian Organization of Cancer Patients “Hello”.

The first action and screening took place at the Russian University of Transport (MIIT)
