Chief Oncologist of the Central Federal District Sergey Ivanov: “Our mission is to tell people about the need for regular examinations and make it a habit”
On April 28, Saratov summed up the results of the All-Russian project “Oncopatrul”, which took place at the end of April in the region. During the event, more than 170 residents of Saratov and the region, including teachers of the Saratov State Technical University named after Yu.A. Gagarin, were tested for the detection of oncological diseases. Suspected malignant neoplasms were detected in 20 of the examined patients, and cancer was confirmed in another 16.
Traditionally, specialists of the NMIC of Radiology held a series of events for primary care physicians, in total, more than 500 specialists attended the Oncopatrul events.
– Each “Oncopatrul” is an incredible experience both for the region we come to and for ourselves, – said Sergey Ivanov, Chief oncologist of the Central Federal District, who this time led the delegation of the Center. – Our mission is to tell people about the need for regular examinations and make it their habit. I would like to note that the oncology service in the Saratov region is developing rapidly, today we saw a new building under construction, which will soon begin work. This is important, because even more residents of the region will be able to receive highly qualified assistance.”
The solemn ceremony of summing up the results of the work of the “Oncopatrul” was held in the building of the Youth Theater. It was attended by Acting Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Saratov Region, Minister of Labor and Social Development Sergey Egorov, Minister of Health of the region Oleg Kostin, Chairman of the Saratov City Duma Sergey Ovsyannikov, Director of the A.F. Tsyba MRSC – branch of the NMIC Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia Sergey Ivanov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the teaching staff of the SSMU. V.I. Razumovsky.
Sergey Ovsyannikov addressed the organizers of the Oncopatrul project with words of gratitude: “It is wonderful that such a project is being successfully implemented in our country. It is very important that medical skills and the most advanced technologies reach from the capital of our Motherland to its very outskirts. So that doctors, including those from Saratov, have the opportunity to adopt the richest experience in the field of healthcare that Russia has today.”
Traditionally, outstanding medical workers of the region were awarded letters of thanks from the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Andrey Kaprin, in turn, senior researcher at the P.A. Hertsen Institute of Radiology, a branch of the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Tatiana Sushinskaya and thoracic oncologist surgeon at the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute Vitaly Barmin were awarded certificates of honor from the City Duma of the region.
At the end of the event, the Oncopatrul relay was transferred to the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, where the project will be held from June 14 to 16.
