Open Doors Day at NMRRC dedicated to thyroid neoplasms
On May 25, World Thyroid Day, an Open Day will be held in the outpatient clinic of the A. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre – the branch of the FSBI “National Medical Research Radiological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. This time the specialists of the Center will conduct consultations and ultrasound diagnostics for all comers.
The main function of the thyroid gland is the production of thyroid hormones, which stimulate metabolism in all cells of our body, support the work of the heart, brain and all muscles, as well as the musculoskeletal apparatus, reproductive and immune systems.
Almost all thyroid diseases begin imperceptibly and last for a long time without pronounced clinical manifestations. For example, thyroid cancer does not have any specific clinical picture. As a rule, it is detected in the form of a nodular goiter, which is detected by ultrasound. If the nodule in the thyroid gland reaches a large size, patients may note some deformation of the neck, feel tightness and suffocation.
The main method of thyroid cancer treatment is surgical intervention. Mini-invasive endoscopic technologies are used at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre, which allow to remove the tumor without incisions in the neck and quickly rehabilitate patients.
