Pre-rehabilitation school for patients with thoracic oncopathology at the National Medical Research Oncological Centre
The first Pre-Rehabilitation School for patients with thoracic oncopathology was held at National Medical Research Oncological Centre. The School is aimed at preparing and adapting to the upcoming changes associated with specific treatment.
Ata Yudina, thoracoabdominal oncologist of the consulting and outpatient department of the A. Tsyb MRRC, researcher of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Restorative Technologies, spoke in detail about the upcoming treatment and possible side effects. The doctor paid special attention to proper nutrition and necessary physical activity.
“We want our patients to approach treatment as consciously as possible,” emphasizes Liana Mkrtchyan, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Restorative Technologies at the A. Tsyb MRRC. – There is a large set of actions, performing which you can prepare your body for the upcoming treatment and minimize stress. This will contribute to quick recovery and good health”.
The specialists of the Center paid much attention to physical activity and proper breathing. The physical therapy instructor provided several recommendations and did a cycle of exercises with the patients, which will help to strengthen the respiratory organs.
These schools are planned to be held on a regular basis. We hope that this will help patients understand how important it is to prepare physically and psychologically for treatment in order to achieve the most favorable results.
