A complicated operation was performed to save the patient’s kidney

The most complicated surgical operation to save the patient’s only kidney was performed at the A.F. Tsyba MRSC
Patient Nikolay, 70 years old from the Moscow region, independently sought help at the A,F MRNC. Tsyba. He was diagnosed with stage one right kidney cancer. The tumor was small – only 4 centimeters.
It would seem that an ordinary situation for surgeons: the removal of a fairly small tumor formation. But the situation was aggravated by the fact that the patient had his left kidney removed back in 1979. That’s why surgeons faced the task of radically removing the tumor and preserving the organ. It required a masterly mastery of surgical skills and experience. Moreover, the tumor itself arose in a difficult place for resection – along the anterior surface in the middle third of the kidney, where the main vessels of the kidney and the cup-pelvic system pass. Any damage to the vessels in this place could cause a variety of acute complications in the patient, since the cup-pelvic system is responsible for collecting and removing urine from the body. In a word, the doctors had no right to make a mistake.
The operating team of the A.F. Tsyba MRSC under the leadership of the Director General of the FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kaprin perfectly coped with the task within two hours.
To remove the tumor, the renal artery was clamped, which allowed surgeons to resect the kidney in just 14 minutes. It should be noted that according to all the rules of surgery, the maximum time allowed for artery compression lasts only 30 minutes. In this case, the surgeons of the F. Tsyba MRSC performed a complex resection in a matter of minutes, which reduced the risks of acute renal injury. The blood loss was only 200 milliliters
Currently, the patient is activated, feels well and is preparing for discharge.
