Russia-China: oncologists’ dialogue continues
NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Shanghai Cancer Center of Fudan University held another thematic webinar on the problems of diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases. This time, the teleconference between the countries was devoted to the review of the application of nuclear medicine methods. Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He thanked his Chinese colleagues for their active participation in the useful exchange of information and stressed that cooperation with the Fudan Cancer Center is very diverse and productive. So, following the results of the second webinar, we received an offer from our Shanghai colleagues to participate in joint research in the field of oncourology.
The meeting was conducted from the Russian side by the Director of the A.F. Tsyba MRSC – a branch of the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Ivanov and the head of the Department of Radionuclide Diagnostics of the P.A.Herzen MNIOI – a branch of the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Candidate of Medical Sciences Alexey Leontiev. From the Chinese side, Dr. Shaoli Song, Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the Shanghai Cancer Center of Fudan University.
Mikhail Sigov, Head of the Radionuclide Diagnostics Department at the A.F. Tsyba MRSC, spoke about the experience of PSMA imaging in prostate cancer. Tatiana Kochetova, radiologist of the Department of Radiosurgical treatment with open radionuclides – about PSMA therapy for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer using RFP based on the isotope lutetium 177. Sofia Onishchenko – medical physicist of the Department of Radionuclide Diagnostics of the Moscow State Medical Institute. P.A.Herzen – presented the report “The first experience of harmonization of the SUV parameter in PET/CT in the Russian Federation within the framework of the program of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine”.
The presentations of Shanghai oncologists were devoted to a general overview of the work of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Cancer Center of Fudan University – this was told by the doctor of the Department of Nuclear Medicine Jinjin Yang, and the experience of using and prospects for PSMA imaging in prostate cancer in the presentation of the Deputy chief physician of the Department of Nuclear Medicine Chang Liu.
According to the participants of the meeting, during the VKS, both sides presented relevant reports on the current state and prospects for the development of nuclear medicine in the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. Russian experts state the interest of Chinese colleagues in studying the experience of the Department of radiosurgical treatment with open radionuclides of the A.F. Tsyba MRSC within the framework of radionuclide therapy and the Department of radionuclide diagnostics of the P.A. Herzen Institute for the Harmonization of the SUV indicator in PET/CT. In turn, the staff of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Shanghai Cancer Center of Fudan University expressed their willingness to share their experience in the use of radiopharmaceuticals, a large range of which is used in their clinical practice. Mutually beneficial cooperation continues.
