Russia and Vietnam: New Cooperation in the Fight Against Cancer
Andrei Kaprin, General Director of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is participating in the official visit of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, to Vietnam.
The program includes visits to leading healthcare institutions of the Republic: the International Ophthalmology Hospital, the National Children’s Hospital, Hanoi Medical University, and Tam Anh General Hospital, as well as a Russia–Vietnam medical business meeting.
“Today, our visit and business forum are directly related to establishing horizontal contacts between scientific, practical, and industrial activities,” noted Mikhail Murashko. The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation emphasized important achievements of Russia in developing cutting-edge technologies, including the use of radiotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals, minimally invasive and non-invasive approaches to glioma removal, the development of mRNA vaccines and oncolytic viruses, and certainly the introduction of modern Russian drugs for cancer treatment.
During the visit, a memorandum of cooperation in oncology was signed between the NMIRC of the Russian Ministry of Health and Tam Anh Clinic.
It is worth noting that this is not the first meeting between Russian and Vietnamese oncologists. For example, NMRRC hosted Vietnamese colleagues in May 2025 during the official visit of the country’s leadership to Moscow. The signed memorandum became a logical continuation of the reached agreements on cooperation in education and scientific exchange, joint webinars, master classes, specialist exchanges, and on-the-job training.
Tam Anh Clinic Vietnam is a network of general hospitals, the largest private medical network in Vietnam, known for advanced technologies. It offers a wide range of medical services, including diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases. The hospital network has multiple branches, including a major center in Hanoi.
