RUSSIA HAS OFFICIALLY APPROVED A SYSTEM FOR THE SELECTION OF THERAPIES AND PRODUCTION OF mRNA-VACCINES

“National Medical Research Radiological Centre” (NMRRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation was the first in Russia to receive approval from the Russian Federal Agency for the use of medical products intended for diagnosis and selection of anti-tumor treatment, including mRNA-vaccines and other biotechnological drugs created «for patients». It is a complex molecular-genetic solution ARIADNA, which allows to analyze the genetic material of the tumor and based on these data to select personalized treatment.

ARIADNA is a new generation sequencing (NGS) diagnostic test designed to detect mutations in more than 22,000 genes using DNA and RNA extracted from tumor tissue and blood. The document received officially confirms that this system, created in radiology NMIC, is effective and allows doctors to make clinical decisions properly when it comes to personalized therapy.

Deputy Director General of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for Science c.m.s. Peter Shegay noted: Obtaining the official approval of Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) is a sign that we have created a unique solution for our country, allowing not only to select individual treatment where standard methods have proved ineffective, but also to create, together with the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. Gamaleya, mRNA-vaccine personally, based on the genetic profile of the tumor».

Director General of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Kaprin emphasized: Receipt of the official document really opens a new page in the history of domestic oncology. We are not only talking about the recognition of this medical solution, but also about the beginning of a new practice: treatment that is built around a specific person. This is an important step for our country, which makes it possible to make the most modern methods of therapy available to Russian patients».

National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation remains the only center in the country where the ARIADNA system, capable of selecting treatment schemes and forming «design documentation» for mRNA-vaccines synthesis has been created and successfully applied. This opens up prospects for patients with complex and resistant forms of cancer and gives the Center an opportunity to develop a new direction of personalized oncology in Russia at a new level.
