NMIC of Radiology and the Russian Academy of Education launch an educational project “About Oncology – simply”

FSBI “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, with the information support of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO), is launching an educational project “About Oncology – Just” in the supervised Central, Volga and North Caucasus Federal districts.

The aim of the project is to popularize a healthy lifestyle among schoolchildren and teachers, raise awareness of early diagnosis and treatment of cancer, methods of prevention, as well as career guidance among high school students.

“Today, even for the youngest audience, it is no secret that taking care of your health is at the heart of a long and prosperous life. Therefore, it is so important that the widest audience has access to proven and useful information in the field of medicine and prevention of various diseases. We are confident that our project will be able to awaken real research interest in schoolchildren, an understanding of how important and invaluable the work of a doctor and scientist is, and, perhaps, to arouse a desire to enter a medical university or link their future with medical science,” said Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Russian Academy of Education, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education.

At the pilot stage, schools will have the opportunity to invite young oncologists to talk with students in full-time or distance format. Researchers representing one of Russia’s leading medical and scientific institutions – NMIC of Radiology, will tell high school students about the principles of a healthy lifestyle, new achievements of biomedical technologies and promising areas of regenerative medicine in the treatment of oncological diseases.

The students will gain new knowledge about the rules of healthy eating and the dangers of bad habits, about the achievements of tissue engineering, the use of 3D technologies, bioprinting, cell transplantation and how to become a successful scientist who is engaged in such an interesting direction in biomedicine.

“Educational work is the most important condition for the successful prevention of oncological diseases. The general public needs more than ever knowledge about recommendations and technologies that can save lives. It is also important for us that young specialists come to hospitals and specialized centers, burning with their work, continuing advanced research,” said Andrey Dmitrievich Kaprin, Chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, General Director of the NMIC of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and RAO. – Therefore, the main audience of our project “About Oncology is simple” is high school students, who will soon have to make a choice with which profession to associate their lives. I am sure that our project will become a starting point for some of them on their way to medical science.”

The second part of the educational project concerns the anonymous questionnaire of teachers on the prevention of cancer. Studies show that early detection of the problem allows them to be cured in 90% of cases. That is why teachers are invited to take a survey that will allow them to take a closer look at their state of health and, if necessary, seek advice from specialists. The pilot project will include schools of the Central Federal District, PFD and NCFD. At the end of the survey, teachers will be waiting for the addresses and contacts of cancer centers in the regions of these federal districts, where teachers will be able to receive the necessary assistance.

Registration of teachers and schools to participate in the program will start on April 18 within the framework of the II Assembly of the Russian Academy of Education “Teacher and Time”.
