THE INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE CONTINUES: AN EXPERT FROM MALAYSIA VISITED THE NATIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH RADIOLOGICAL CENTRE
The P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute – a branch of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation – was visited by Dr. Narasimman S., a consultant in thoracic surgery at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (Malaysia).
The collaboration with the Malaysian colleague began at the 9th International Forum of Oncology and Radiotherapy «For Life», which was held in Moscow in September. Dr. Narasimman S. was one of the international experts at the Forum and took part in its scientific program. Now the professional dialogue has continued directly at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre.
During the meeting with the Center’s team, Dr. Narasimman S. delivered a presentation entitled «Reconstruction of Extensive Chest Wall Defects after Resection», sharing his experience in the field of thoracic surgery with his colleagues.
A separate part of the visit was getting acquainted with the clinical work of the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute. Together with our specialists, the foreign expert visited the thoracic department and the operating unit, the departments of radiology, endoscopy, anesthesiology and intensive care, as well as the department of combined treatment methods with medical rehabilitation for adults.
The meeting concluded with concrete plans for further cooperation.
«It is especially important for us when professional communication that begins on a scientific platform receives practical follow‑up. We were able to discuss in detail the approaches to surgical treatment, introduce our colleague to the work of our departments, and agreed on further exchange of experience and training of specialists», – noted Andrey Borisovich Ryabov, MD, PhD, Deputy Director General for Surgery at the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation.
Thus, «For Life» continues to work even after the Forum has ended – now through new professional contacts and joint plans.
