THE TEAM OF THE NMRC OF RADIOLOGY TOOK PART IN THE «SIRIUS.BIOTECH» SUMMIT
The team of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, led by Andrey Dmitrievich Kaprin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Chief External Oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, took part in the 4th Summit of Drug Developers «Sirius.Biotech». The event was held on 20–22 May 2026 in the federal territory of «Sirius».
The summit traditionally brings together representatives of academia, universities, high‑tech companies, drug developers, young researchers and leaders of the biomedical industry. This year, the venue gathered more than 1,500 participants from across the country.
One of the key sections of the forum was the session «Breakthroughs of the Year in Russia: Biotechnological Drugs», which focused on the most promising domestic developments. Andrey Kaprin presented a report on the world’s first experience of clinical application of a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine. His co‑presenter was Petr Shegai, Deputy General Director for Science at the NMRRC.
«Today we can see Russian biomedicine moving from the stage of fundamental research to real clinical application. It is especially important that we are talking not only about drug development, but also about building a full‑fledged technological platform — from production to implementation in practice», Andrey Dmitrievich noted.
As part of the scientific program, National Medical Research Radiological Centre specialists also presented reports on the development of targeted radiopharmaceuticals and the prospects of CAR‑T therapy for solid tumors.
- Victoria Tishchenko spoke about the development of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals based on small molecules and peptides.
- Olga Bezborodova presented the results of preclinical evaluation of anti‑GD2 CAR‑T therapy for glioblastoma.
- Petr Shegai also delivered a presentation at a panel discussion dedicated to building biotechnological sovereignty of the Russian Federation.
«The participation of the NMRRC in the «Sirius.Biotech» summit has become yet another confirmation that Russian oncology is actively contributing to the development of new biotechnological areas — from cell therapy to personalized antitumor vaccines», Petr Viktorovich concluded.
