TWO MODERN GAMMA-THERAPY DEVICES “TERABALT-100” WERE PUT INTO OPERATION IN LUGANSK
The Lugansk Republican Oncological Dispensary became the first and the only institution in the newly annexed republics and regions of the Russian Federation to receive a license for remote radiation therapy using this class of devices.
“Serious support in the implementation of the program to improve oncological care in our region is provided by the Ministry of Health of Russia, and, of course, the specialists of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre” (NMRRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation”, stressed the chief physician of Lugansk Regional Medical Center O.D. Ryabtseva. In 2023, modern equipment for diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases was purchased: MRI machine, equipment for immunohistochemical studies of tumor tissue, which allowed to fully establish the diagnosis, plan the tactics of patient management, and expand the range of anti-tumor drug treatment. The launch of new gamma-therapeutic devices “TERABALT-100″ will give us the opportunity to meet the deadlines for therapy without delaying hospitalization due to waiting lists”.
The ceremony of launching the new equipment in the radiation therapy department of LRKOD was attended by Leonid Pasechnik, head of the LNR, who emphasized that “gamma emitters of this class are absolutely new and unique for the republic.” “We have not had such devices since 1974. This is a global step forward, which will significantly improve the quality of medical care for cancer patients living in the territory of the LNR”, emphasized the head.
Recall that thanks to the curatorial support of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre” (NMRRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the oncological service of the Republic is also actively developing telemedicine technologies, which allows you to quickly get a “second opinion”, consultations on complex cases, rare types of malignant neoplasms. In 2023, more than 50 telemedicine consultations were carried out, based on the results of which 80% of complex patients were hospitalized in the hospitals of the NMRRC for one or another type of treatment.
“In the near future, a new radiology building with modern high-tech equipment for diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases is planned to be built in the LNR,” emphasized G.S. Alekseeva, Deputy Director General of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, who has repeatedly participated in working visits to the republic.
