The presentation of the development of a Korean biomarker for early detection of cancer was held at the Herzen Institute of Medical Research
On July 22, 2019, the Moscow Scientific Research Oncological Institute named after P.A. Herzen, a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia, hosted a presentation of the developments of Korean scientists in the field of early cancer diagnosis. We are talking about a self–diagnostic device – a special biomarker capable of detecting cancer from the initial to the thermal stage. The development was presented by the Vice President of CUBEBIO Paul Shin (Republic of Korea).
According to the developers, a new generation biomarker is able to determine the presence of a malignant process by the immunochemical reaction of a urine test in just 5-10 minutes. With this method, 6 types of cancer can be diagnosed: stomach cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer and lung cancer. The method has already been tested in China and Korea.
According to Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia, any efforts for early diagnosis of cancer are interesting for oncologists.
– If we detect cancer at an early stage, the cure in some localities reaches 95%. In addition, within the framework of the national program, tasks have been set to increase the index of early detection of cancer and reduce mortality.
He stressed that any method must undergo the necessary testing and NMIC Radiology is ready to participate in it. At the end of the meeting, the issues of developing the design of the study and integrating the methodology for conducting scientific tests were discussed.
