Russian-Hungarian cooperation in the field of healthcare was discussed at the NMIC of Radiology
On August 23, 2019, the 8th meeting of the working group on Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals of the Russian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held at the P.A. Herzen Moscow Research Institute – a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
The Russian delegation was headed by the Director of the Department of Medical Care for Children and Maternity Services of the Ministry of Health of Russia E.N. BAIBARINA, the Hungarian delegation was headed by the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Hungary Cecilia MULLER. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Roszdravnadzor, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rospotrebnadzor, leading national oncology centers, the National Public Health Center of Hungary and pharmaceutical companies of Hungary. The guests of honor were met by the Director General of the NMIC of Radiology, Chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.D. Kaprin.
A tour of the oldest oncological institute in Russia and Europe, the P.A. Herzen Institute of Oncology, was organized for Hungarian colleagues, which was conducted by the Deputy Director General for Science, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor B.Ya. Alekseev. The guests were able to see modern operating rooms, a high-dose chemotherapy department with bone marrow transplantation, a radiotherapy department equipped with high-class Cyber Knife and Infinity accelerator.
One of the first issues discussed during the meeting was cooperation in the field of oncology. Both sides stressed the importance of this topic as a priority national task.
– The topic of fighting cancer is so important that specialists from all over the world should unite their efforts to solve it, – said Ms. Baybarina.
The Ministry of Health of Russia has developed a draft Memorandum of Cooperation with Hungary, which is planned to be signed during the official visit of President Vladimir Putin to Budapest on October 30, 2019.
Chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia A.D. Kaprin told about the achievements and innovations of the NMIC of Radiology. He elaborated on the development and application of domestic radiopharmaceuticals, algorithms for the use of tumor-associated markers, cryobank, bioprinting, unique diagnostic methods, X-ray surgical treatment methods, new directions of chemotherapy, telemedicine, etc.
Academician Kaprin’s report made a great impression on the participants of the meeting.
– After everything I have seen in your Center, it seems to me that our cooperation has no boundaries, – said Jozev LEVEI, Clinical Director of the National Institute of Oncology of Hungary. A.D. Kaprin proposed to prepare an agreement on cooperation between the leading oncological services of the two countries. Mr. LEVEI also recalled that Russia has signed an agreement on cooperation at the level of cancer institutes in Central and Eastern Europe.
During the meeting, experts also discussed state measures in the field of healthcare, prevention and control of infectious diseases, e-health, cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals, medical tourism, the development of medical rehabilitation, joint projects in the field of healthcare.
The Hungarian side has shown great interest in establishing cooperation with Russia in the field of health protection both in a bilateral format and on the platforms of international organizations.
