VISIT OF DELEGATION FROM CHINA TO THE NATIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH ONCOLOGICAL CENTRE: FOCUS ON TECHNOLOGY AND COOPERATION
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the largest scientific developments of the Center, exchange experience in the field of high medical technologies and discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare.
Currently, the Center has the largest experience in the country in treating patients using radiopharmaceuticals based on the radionuclide Yttrium-90. The first and second phases of clinical trials of the innovative drug “Hepatoren-MRRC”, developed by the Center’s scientists in its own nuclear pharmacy, have been completed at the National Medical Research Oncological Centre. The drug has no analogues in the world. Most patients show good tolerability of the procedure and a pronounced antitumor effect. In combination with systemic therapy, it is possible to achieve stable and long-lasting remissions, including cases of advanced stages of the disease.
During the visit of the Chinese delegation two modern radiosurgical operating rooms equipped with all necessary for high-tech interventions, as well as an extensive fleet of radiation equipment, including brachytherapy machines and a proton complex of Russian production “Prometheus” were demonstrated.
Sergey Ivanov, Director of the A. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre (MRRC), Doctor of Medical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation noted that such visits have an important applied value for both parties: “The exchange of experience allows oncology as a science to develop rapidly and introduce new approaches to more personalized patient care. We are always open to dialog, joint research and participation in international scientific discussions”.
