Vladimir Putin congratulated the participants of the XI Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia
On April 23, 2020, the opening ceremony of the XI Congress of the Association of Directors of Institutes of Oncology and Radiology (ADIOR) of the CIS and Eurasia countries was held, which gathered a record number of participants. The broadcast in the format of an online conference was conducted from the presidential hall of the International Multimedia Press Center of MIA “Russia Today”.
The Congress is supported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Association of Oncologists of Russia. This year, 6,700 delegates from 19 countries are taking part in the event. The business and scientific program of the congress gathered more than 500 reports on the most important issues of the industry development.
The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Council for Science and Education under the President of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, Director of the Department of Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems of the CIS Executive Committee Alexey Sazonov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva, Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Kazakhstan Lyazata Aktayeva, President of ADIOR CIS and EA, Chief Freelance Oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kaprin and the president of the Congress, Director of the KGMA branch of the Russian Ministry of Health, Chief freelance oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health in the Volga Federal District Rustem Khasanov, as well as with the participation of members of the Presidium of the CIS and Eurasia ADIOR and heads of cancer centers in Russia and the CIS. The host of the ceremony was Evelina Zakamskaya, a television journalist and editor-in-chief of the Doctor TV channel.
Opening the ceremony, Andrey Kaprin drew the attention of the participants that the experience of holding such a large-scale event in the online broadcast format is new and unusual for all its participants, but cancer problems need to be solved here and now, despite the pandemic raging in the world. He also thanked the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan for their support in holding such a large-scale event in an online format.
The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko read the greeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the participants of the congress, which emphasized “the highest relevance of holding a meeting of oncologists of our countries at this level.”
“In the current difficult conditions, you are faced with the responsible task of maintaining the effective sustainable operation of the entire system of oncological care,” the greeting reads.
In his speech, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko noted that the mobilization of forces to neutralize the threat of coronavirus is a test of strength. “We have seen what is the pillar and foundation of healthcare in any country, and how strong this foundation is and can change and adapt quickly.” He stressed that the issue of providing oncological care and the planned amounts of its financing remain in the priorities of the state. The Minister also outlined several important tasks that should be solved by the organizers of the oncological care system in the very near future. “It is necessary to comprehend what format and infrastructure oncological care should have, to comprehend the lessons that we are going through on drug therapy, to complete work on a unified register of cancer patients.”
In turn, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev noted that “in the current situation, the congress will have a special weighty sound, thanks to the discussion of the operational agenda.” He stressed that the issues of immunology are among the most urgent for science today, in particular, the study of the development of the immune response in the case when a person has contracted coronavirus.” Another important issue is radiology. “I would like the congress, after the discussion, to address the governments of our countries with concrete proposals to support the development of the technological base for providing radiation oncology in the CIS countries.”
Alexey Sazonov, Director of the Department of Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems of the CIS Executive Committee, read out the address of Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Leyla Fazleeva read the address of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to the participants of the congress, which also emphasized the highest relevance of the event and the focus on obtaining effective solutions in building a system of cancer care in our countries.
On the eve of the congress, on the initiative of the Presidium of the Board of ADIOR CIS and EA, the N. N. Trapeznikov medal “For contribution to the development of oncological service” was approved. The first laureates of the international award were outstanding oncologists of our time from Russia and CIS countries: Aliev Jamil Azizovich, Zikiryakhodjaev Dilshod Zukirovich, Davydov Mikhail Ivanovich and Hasanov Rustem Shamilevich.
Also, as part of the ceremony, the winners of the young scientists competition were awarded, which was chaired by a jury headed by Evgeny Choinzonov, Director of the Research Institute of Oncology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The winners of the competition for the best publication were 6 talented specialists who published significant materials in the field of oncology. The award ceremony was held by the chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ivan Stilidi.
The heads of the largest medical centers and institutes of Russia and the CIS, including Leonid Mikhailovich Roshal, Jamil Azizovich Aliyev, Gennady Tikhonovich Sukhoi, Ernis Abdyshevich Tilekov, Sergey Vladimirovich Gauthier, Nikolai Arkadyevich Daikhes, Alexey Mikhailovich Belyaev, Mirzagaleb Nigmatovich Tillyashaykhov and many others, also addressed the participants of the congress with welcoming words.
As part of the opening ceremony, reports were made by the chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Andrey Kaprin and the chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia in the Volga Federal District Rustem Khasanov, who were devoted to the history of the development of the oncological service of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan.
