Winners of the Young Scientists Competition were honored at the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre
All young scientists of the Center actively engaged in research were invited to participate. Supporting and fostering the professional growth of young specialists, as well as increasing their interest in scientific research, are among the top priorities of the A. Tsyb MRRC and its leadership.
A total of 24 participants took part in the grant competition, representing the clinical and experimental sectors, as well as the National Radiation-Epidemiological Registry.
«I have been involved in scientific research since my student years, and it is very rewarding when your work is recognized by the leadership», says Violetta Avdeenko, a second-year resident at the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre and a member of the Young Scientists Council. «I work in the abdominal department, and my research interests focus on colorectal cancer. Surgery inspires me, and my primary motivation is to help people facing this serious diagnosis».
«I work in the experimental sector of the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre. This is where preclinical studies are conducted on technologies and drugs that later find application in clinical treatment», emphasizes Anastasia Pichkunova, an engineer at the Radiation Biophysics Laboratory and a member of the Young Scientists Council. «This competition was an important event for me, and its outcome reassures me that I am on the right path. My research focuses on combined proton-neutron therapy. Our Center has a unique opportunity to develop this method, as both proton and neutron complexes are located within the experimental sector».
The team at the A.Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre wholeheartedly congratulates the winners and finalists of the competition! Over the next year, 11 young scientists will receive grant support. We wish them continued success and groundbreaking discoveries!
