The latest technologies and methods of treatment
Specialists of the Center, in parallel with medical activities, conduct research work. The latest technologies and methods of treatment, including those studied in clinical trials, become available to patients.
Thanks to the merger of three leading Russian research institutes in the field of oncology, radiology and urology, the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC of Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia has a full range of possibilities for modern diagnostics, complex and combined methods of treatment of cancer patients. The center has in its arsenal all kinds of modern radiation installations, including gamma and cyber knives, the first domestic proton accelerator Prometheus (which allows solving complex problems of treating patients with various tumors of the brain, head and neck), as well as advanced technologies such as: HIPEC and PIPAC, x-ray surgical methods of treatment, radionuclide and brachial therapy. The Center has patented and actively applies a method of preserving the reproductive functions of treated oncopatients using cryopreservation of genetic material. And today we have already had more than 60 children.
All three branches provide all types of surgical intervention for oncological diseases, including reconstruction of lost organs (breast, urination, gastrointestinal tract, pharynx, tongue, jaw, etc.), which not only solves the problem of surgical removal of the tumor, but also significantly improves the quality of life of patients. The Center provides medical care in the field of pediatric urology and is the only institution in the country that performs transplantation of organs of the genitourinary system with the support of hemodialysis (branch of the N.A. Lopatkin Research Institute of Urology and Interventional Radiology). The Molecular Genetic Service of the NMIC of Radiology conducts the full range of modern genetic testing, which allows predicting hereditary forms of cancer, as well as developing a program for their prevention and treatment.
NMIC of Radiology is a federal reference center for pathomorphological, molecular genetic and radiation research methods.
The main activities of the center are:
- performing reconstructive plastic surgery using microsurgical techniques;
- combined treatment with intraoperative radiation therapy in conditions of general gas hypoxia;
- combined radiation treatment of patients with total lesion of one or two bronchi, trachea;
- complex application of radioprotectors and radiomodifiers;
- combined treatment of patients with laryngopharyngeal cancer with preservation of voice function;
- photodynamic therapy techniques; diagnostic mapping of the skin;
- fluorescent diagnostics of malignant tumors of various localizations
The Center presents the entire line of modern devices for the diagnosis of tumors, including three PET/CT scans combining positron emission with X–ray computed tomography”
Thanks to the support of the Russian Ministry of Health, the Radiology Center develops and tests a number of innovative radiopharmaceuticals, putting into practice breakthrough technologies for their use for the diagnosis and treatment of complex cases of cancer. “We were among the first in the country to master and implement the method of brachytherapy for prostate cancer.” The National Center of Radiology uses a unique technique of radioembolization of the liver using microspheres of Yttrium-90, produced in the Russian Federation.
“The authority of the NMIC of Radiology is recognized abroad – in 2020, the Center was chosen as the Basic organization in the field of oncology of the member countries of the Union of Independent States.”
