
Reconstructive plastic surgery in the treatment of radiation injuries

Surgery at the NMRRC has no equal in terms of the level of surgery (with organ reconstruction and restoration of lost functions) in the treatment of radiation injuries of soft tissues of various localizations, tumors of the facial skeleton, tongue, laryngopharynx, upper respiratory and digestive tracts. The Department of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery of Radiation Injuries (branch A.Tsyb MRRC, Obninsk), unique for Russia, performs the most complex extensive surgeries for treatment of all types of radiation injuries of the intestine, bladder, pelvic organs and skin.
Leading surgical oncologists of the Center perform unique surgeries that are available only at a few medical centers in the world, and in some cases specialists in NMRRC use such surgical methods that are not used anywhere else, not only in Russia, but also in the world.
Recommendations for patients
To receive this type of treatment, it is necessary to make an appointment with an oncologist at the outpatient clinic of P.Hertsen MORI or A.Tsyb MRRC.
The initial consultation is free of charge if the appointment is made via informational centers of the branches of NMRRC, and if the patient has a referral in the form 057/u (for Russian citizens). In the absence of results of necessary examinations, the doctor may prescribe additional examinations, which, according to compulsory medical insurance, can be performed at the place of residence.
After that an interdisciplinary council of doctors decides on the method of treatment. Citizens from any subject of the Russian Federation can undergo treatment.
