Surgical Treatment of Non-tumor Diseases
Specialists of the Center provide assistance to patients with non-tumor diseases. The department performs high-tech minimally invasive interventions:
- bariatric surgeries in the treatment of morbid obesity;
- antireflux surgeries for esophageal hernia, reflux esophagitis and Barrett’s esophagus;
- hernioplastic operations for hernias of the anterior abdominal wall of various localizations.

Branches and departments where non-tumor diseases are treated
Types of surgical interventions.
A promising area of activity of the thoracoabdominal department, which comprehensively solves the problems of patients with excessive weight and somatic diseases associated with obesity. The staff of the department possess all modern techniques of bariatric surgeries, allowing to achieve a permanent effect on weight loss, including minimally traumatic laparoscopic access. In addition, bariatric surgery is aimed at correction of concomitant diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, heart failure, sleep apnea, spine and joint diseases. The treatment of this category of patients involves a multidisciplinary team including a nutritionist, endocrinologist, psychologist, surgeon, gastroenterologist, cardiologist and psychotherapist.
Surgical care for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hernia of the esophageal orifice of the diaphragm, and patients with verified Barrett’s esophagus (mucosal changes in the lower third of the esophagus by intestinal metaplasia).
Laparoscopic fundoplication is performed to eliminate gastro-esophageal reflux (backflow of contents from the stomach into the esophagus). The essence of the operation is to create a cuff by wrapping the stomach wall around the esophagus and thereby strengthening the esophageal-gastric sphincter. We perform fundoplication through small punctures using laparoscopic technology, thanks to which patients do not have noticeable postoperative scars and accelerates the recovery process.
The low traumatic nature of the operation allows the patient to avoid a long period of rehabilitation and allows for a quick recovery.
In laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon penetrates the abdomen to the organs through several punctures and then inserts manipulator instruments through them. Manipulators are equipped with micro-instruments, illumination and micro-camera, which allow to perform operations with visual control, while not making large incisions, which minimizes surgical trauma to tissues and reduces rehabilitation time.
Laparoscopic surgical interventions to repair hernias of various localizations of the anterior abdominal wall (inguinal, femoral, umbilical, white line hernias and postoperative ventral hernias).
Treatment programs
What diagnoses can people come to us with?
Key advantages of laparoscopic surgery
Small cosmetic stitches
Quick rehabilitation period
Low trauma
Quick activation of the patient
Painless postoperative period
Rehabilitation
On the first day the patient is transferred to the hospital room. Almost immediately after surgery, you can get up and move independently. It is possible to take food after a few hours.
Features of treatment in the center
Personalized (individual) approach to the treatment of the patient
Management of the patient in the preoperative and postoperative periods
High quality of treatment work, sensitivity and attentiveness of specialists.
The applied methods of treatment have the lowest risk of disease recurrence.
Treatment is carried out in comfortable conditions with the use of modern minimally invasive surgical technologies.
Minimum set of tests for consultation with a surgeon.
Attantion: An initial consultation with the surgeon of the Center is required.
For consultation on antireflux surgery, provide the following package of documents:
- General blood analysis, biochemical blood analysis.
- Polyposition X-ray examination with contrast (barium).
- EGDS (if necessary, taking a biopsy).
- Consultation gastroenterologist
Please provide the following package of documents if you need consultation with bariatric surgery
- Conclusion of endocrinologist, on the possibility of bariatric surgery
- General blood analysis, expanded biochemical analysis of blood
- Coagulogram
- EGDS
- X-ray of the stomach with contrast
- External respiratory function
Recommendations for patients
To decide which type of surgery is right for you, discuss all options with your doctor. If you have several options, ask the following questions:
- How much weight can I lose using different types of surgery?
- How long will it take to lose weight?
- what are the risks with each type of surgery?
- what lifestyle changes, and what kind of diet do I need to follow after having each type of surgery?
- In addition to weight loss, surgery can also help improve or even get rid of some health problems, including:
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Hypertension
- Increased cholesterol levels
- Night apnea is a condition characterized by breathing stoppage (cessation of pulmonary ventilation) during sleep for more than 10 seconds;
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease, which constantly invokes a feeling of heartburn.
